After breaking his leg on stage a few weeks ago in Sweden, many Foo Fighters fans asked how Dave Grohl would be able to play their next 2015 tour. Well, Dave Grohl responded at the band’s first show of the new tour in Washington D.C. on July 4th.
Grohl ended up coming out on stage in a recreation of the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, except with guitars and lights attached to it:
The show also marked the 20th anniversary of the release of the band’s debut album, and even featured a guest appearance from Grohl’s mom.
Grohl even traded in his throne for a stool, so that he could play a more personal acoustic song:
Commenting on how the throne came to be, Grohl said that "I'm not missing this show for the world," explaining that he was "high as a kite" on painkillers when he drew the design for his onstage seat, which he pictured with "guitar arms" and "lasers and shit shooting from the top."
