IN THE DARK featuring Jess Price
It's now 2021, and concert venues have been silent for months. The echoes of cheering fans and loud amplifiers are all that remain in our memories of these once-packed halls.
We're doing what we can to change that. Back in December, we took over a historic Chicago hall, and invited several area musicians to rip it up on stage. No rules- just an empty venue, a camera crew, and the spotlight.
FRET12 proudly presents, the third episode of #InTheDark, at Pilsen's legendary Thalia Hall featuring Jess Price from Chicago, IL.
Originally from Verdigris, OK, Jess got her start in music playing the piano at the young age of 3! Her uncles got her into playing guitar, and when it comes to her favorite style of music, she loves all of it. She currently plays in the three bands: Doom Flower, Mercy of Nature, and Campdogzz.
Her favorite memory of playing shows was actually at Thalia Hall with Meat Wave and Cursive back in November 2018, along with any GARP experience at Codfish Hollow. In her performance you'll see her playing a Yamaha SK-10 synth as well as a USA Fender Strat plugged into a Fender Blues Jr. This particular synth not only emulates the organ she plays at home, but also has a cool story to boot. "I found the SK-10 on youtube. I called many shops in the states and couldn't find one. There were two in Japan on ebay. I bought one and it arrived not functional so I brought it into Rock n Roll Vintage and James got it going."
She also has plenty of awesome stompboxes to check out as well (including a Death By Audio Reverberation Machine and an Ibanez RC99 Rotary Chorus), but when asked about her favorite piece of gear she replied simply with: "my guitar."
