AND THEN THERE WERE TWO...

AND THEN THERE WERE TWO...

After the recent news of epic guitarist Jeff Loomis joining forces with Arch Enemy, we now have gotten word that Loomis' former Nevermore bandmate and equally-epic guitarist Chris Broderick has parted ways with Megadeth.

Chris has played with some of the biggest names on the planet, and offered an insanely large amount of guitar talent to the legendary Megadeth.  Seriously, if you haven't heard much of Chris' playing, he is out of this world.  Check out his ultra-clean playing of Bach's Double BWV 997:

Due to the usual "artistic differences", and possibly more unknown reasons, he has decided to take his skills to other musical projects (which, after hearing about Loomis' huge move to Arch Enemy, it is interesting to wonder where Broderick will end up).  Not going to lie, it would be epic of Loomis and Broderick joined forces again, possibly in Arch Enemy!

Check out his statement for leaving via his official Facebook page and blog:

Due to artistic and musical differences, it is with great reluctance that I announce my departure from Megadeth to pursue my own musical direction. I want all of you to know how much I appreciate the amount that you the fans have accepted and respected me as a member of Megadeth for the last seven years, but it is time for me to move on. I wish Dave and everyone in Megadeth all the best. I am working on a few things of my own and hope that when they come out, you will all dig it.

    Until then,
    Chris. \m/

Broderick had spent an impressive 7 years with Megadeth, and before his time there, had been one of the most noteworthy guitarists in a variety of projects, including solo ventures and the band Nevermore.

Then, news was also announced that Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover had also parted ways with the band!

Shawn has been in the band even longer and is known for being a key component to the Megadeth sound, having joined the Mustaine army back in 2004.  Shawn wrote a statement on his official Facebook page as well:

After 10 years, I have decided to quit Megadeth to pursue my own musical interests. I want to thank Dave Mustaine and the entire Megadeth family, as well as thanking all the amazing Megadeth fans around the world!!! I truly appreciate all of you. Stay tuned for info on my next musical journey.

This is certainly going to be an interesting time for Megadeth as they will be facing the daunting task of replacing some huge names in their line up.  Both spots will be quite difficult to fill.  So here's to hoping for some fresh blood in Megadeth as they will likely need it for their next album!  In the mean time, please enjoy this oldie-but-goodie video of Chris Broderick showing all guitarists how it's really done:
