MASTODON ARE WORKING ON NEW MUSIC

MASTODON ARE WORKING ON NEW MUSIC

Once More ‘Round the Sun was a pretty big success for Mastodon last year, as it was fairly well received by critics and fans alike, as well as landing the number 6 spot on Billboard for awhile. They even managed to stir up a bit of controversy with their video for High Road, which may have featured just a bit too much butt for some people. With all that happening, most bands would slow down for a year, maybe tour a bit, and just relax. Mastodon is not most bands though, as it was revealed recently that the band was working on some new music.

The announcement was made by guitarist Brent Hinds, when he posted a picture of himself working with a pedal steel guitar:

Now that sounds very interesting. Robert Randolph is the pedal steel guitar master, who’s worked with his own project Robert Randolph and the Family Band, as well as artists like B.B. King, Eric Clapton, and Dave Matthews. Who knows what the band could potentially turn this into, as the pedal steel guitar has a very unique sound, but has mostly been separated from the loud rock and metal world.

Here’s an explanation on pedal steel guitars via Guitarist just to give you an idea:

On top of the cool new music we'll be getting, Mastodon have also announced that they'll be going on tour with another hard rock legend: Clutch! Also joining the tour will be Graveyard, in all their blusey glory...
