2014 was a bit of a slow year for music, as reflected by the number of pop records to go platinum (to refresh your memory, there were 4. Four pop records that went platinum). One can only hope that 2015 will bring the trend upwards from there, right? It’s not that hard, really.
Well, pop music aside, the loud rock world is getting a huge number of releases for 2015! Literally, humongous. The label Nuclear Blast alone has a huge number of releases planned for 2015. How do we know about all these releases, you may ask? It’s interesting, actually. Yesterday (January 6th) the band Carcass posted this picture to their facebook:
While it seems normal, it’s the bottom half of the image that’s important here:
What a way to announce everything! It’s all in one place! Testament, Slayer, Meshuggah , Fear Factory, Immolation, Nile, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Enslaved, Battle Beast, Brujeria, Melechesh, Sylosis, and All Shall Perish are all going to be releasing stuff in 2015! Holy crap, that’s a lot of big name releases... And this is just on one label! Imagine what some of the other big name labels are cooking up. Outside of Nuclear Blast, it’s been confirmed that Deafheaven, Anthrax, Megadeth, Periphery (obviously), Halestorm, Chastain, Kataklysm, Soulfly, and Queensrÿche have all confirmed that that either they’re in the studio working on a new album, or they’re going to be releasing an album most likely this year. I’m probably forgetting some people, but really, there’s just too many to keep track of.
Predictions? 2015 is going to be better than 2014 for music (not that it means much).
