REFUSED DEBUT THEIR FIRST SONG IN 17 YEARS

REFUSED DEBUT THEIR FIRST SONG IN 17 YEARS

Who doesn’t like waiting an absurd amount of time for material from a great band?? Well probably fans of Refused and Faith No More, as both groups haven’t released a new album in around 17 years! At least fans of Faith No More have gotten the pleasure of an announcement of a new album, Sol Invictus, so what do fans of Refused get? Well, they were left with one of the most defining post-hardcore albums of the 90s, The Shape of Punk to Come, but with their eventual break up, they haven’t received any news about the band, until now at least.

Earlier this week (April 26th), fans who liked Refused on Facebook were suddenly treated to this video:

While the video doesn’t actually reveal much, and seems to be a way of hyping everyone up for an announcement, fans of the band, in general, gathered in their masses to make plenty of Black Sabbath jokes. Regardless, hype happened, and the world eagerly awaited some kind of announcement from the band. Eventually (April 28th), the band announced their newest album, titled Freedom, for a release date on June 30th via Epitaph, and they even debuted the opening track from the album:

As with all of Refused’s material, it’s experimental, it’s colorful, and it’s absolutely amazing! Every single instrument on this song is cohesive, with this fast, creeping bass, lead, and drum parts, all complete with Dennis Lyxzén charged vocals. It’s also got a heavy as hell bass solo, with Lyxzén’s vocal resembling something more chanty. The song, most of all, just leaves you wanting more from the band, and eventually, it will come.

For now, you could always check out the world tour the band is going on, and hey, it features Faith No More as well:
