The world of music suffered a huge blow last fall when Static-X founder Wayne Static died peacefully in his sleep at age 48. Much like the death of ‘Dimebag’ Darell Abbott, however, the music community will not let his death be forgotten so easily. A bunch of huge names have come together to honor the late vocalist in a memorial show planned for tomorrow (January 20th) at the Whisky-a-Go-Go in Las Angeles.
The people that have gotten involved in the show are nothing to smirk at either. The recently reunited Snot will be playing six songs for the legendary performance, along with members of Coal Chamber, Dope, and System of a Down. Not only that, but the remaining members of Static’s solo band are set to play Wisconsin Death Trip from front to back, with some special guest vocalists filling in for Static. The solo band has played Static-X material before, as they were involved in 2014’s celebration of Static-X’s 20th anniversary.
It sounds very exciting, to say the least. Serj Tankian seems to be showing up on more and more projects lately, so maybe he could fill in for some of Static’s parts? The result might be questionable, but it would definitely be a sight to behold.
Here’s the poster for the event:
As you can see, the event is being described as: “a night of incredible music with dear friends and family paying tribute to the true king of evil disco and a kick ass party not to be missed.” Not only that, the show is also advertising a webcast of the performance, so no one has to miss out on the action! The webcast will take place at www.bigtimebroadcasting.com and is set to begin at around 10:00 PM PST. If you’re around a computer around that time, don’t miss it, if you can help it.
